Seems like we always do a food topic here on Fridays.  Today there just happens to be one that coincides with this date.  You see, today is the anniversary of the day Clarence Birdseye started to sell prepackaged frozen food for the first time, in Springfield, Massachusetts.  That’s right – Birdseye isn’t just a brand name by happenstance – the brand is named after the man who invented the commercial freezing process and perfected the process known as anhydrous freezing. Teach One

I refuse to play the “25 Things You Don’t Know About Me” game but I’ll give you one. That one is that I was trained as a teacher. I know – pretty clear career path from high school English to digital media guru.  Nevertheless, no matter what position I’ve held I’ve always felt that teaching was part of my job.  While some argue that the “See One, Do One, Teach One” philosophy is a ridiculous oversimplification in business, I don’t.  I think it’s an obligation. Value Added

When you go to a restaurant, they don’t charge you only for the cost of the ingredients used in preparing whatever it is you’re eating. In addition, you’re paying for the preparation of those ingredients, the people who serve you and see that you’re comfortable, the building itself, and a profit margin. What you’re really paying for is the value added by the kitchen staff to those ingredients and the rest of the staff in serving them. Continue reading
