It’s Friday, so let’s talk about food rather than the insane amount of snow that seems to be everywhere.
Today’s food thought is about Italian grandmothers. They know everything about food and although I didn’t have one I borrowed my friend T’s Nonna. She taught me a little Italian but mostly she taught me a lot about food (my own grandmother taught me how to make reservations…) and that taught me a bit about business. Continue reading →

Friday means a food post and what could be more about food than taste? Taste is the lens through which we encounter a chef’s work. It goes along with the qualities of sight, smell and “mouth-feel” in determining whether or not we like a dish. It’s also an important thing to remember as we live our business lives.

We ordered some food last evening from a local Italian restaurant since we were all kind of busy, wiped out, or both. I phoned in the order which we picked up not long thereafter. In the order was some extra food, which surprised me, but apparently it was compensation for the fact that parts of the order were messed up (Hey! When we ask for mushrooms on the pizza it’s because we want them and no one here ordered a white pizza!). Continue reading →
