Sauces

This Foodie Friday the theme is sauces.  I was watching some golf highlights on TV and of course sauces came to mind immediately.  I know – my just having said the word makes you think that as well.  Or maybe not.  So let me explain and you might even see the business point that came to mind.

Let me say up front that what I’m about to say isn’t unique to golf highlights as you’ll see in a minute.  I’m watching the highlight and up from the lower portion of the screen comes a graphic describing what I’m seeing (no, the closed captioning wasn’t on..).  The graphic obscures a good 15% of the screen and all of the lower part.  The issue is that the hole was in the lower part and so the viewer never actually sees the highlight of the ball going in the hole (or maybe it nearly missed – who could tell).  What does this have to do with sauces? That Smell

The Mrs. and I went out for dinner the other night and since it’s Foodie Friday I thought that could serve as our food-related jumping off point.  It was an Indian restaurant, the latest branch of an excellent group.  We’ve eaten in two of their other places in nearby towns and were kind of excited to try something only a few minutes’ drive away.

The food was excellent – generous portions that were well prepared.  The service was good as well so you’re not going to get another customer service rant today.  However, we probably won’t be eating there again and the reason why is instructive. Continue reading

Shrink The Joint

If you’ve been following along in this space you know that one of my favorite artists is The Boss.  I’ve seen him many time over the last (gulp) forty years (honest – the first time was 1972) in venues ranging from a few thousand seats to very large stadia.   I’ve seen him with the E-Street Band, as a solo artist with another band, and even all by himself doing a one-man show.  The music is always great but there was something else that hit me about all of those shows that reminded me of a business point this morning.
