I was watching CNN this morning and on came a local cable break. It’s generally easy to tell which are the local breaks, either because the sponsors are clearly in-market or because the volume cranks itself up about 3x.
In any event, this was an ad for a seminar by the crooks fine folks that bring you the Rich Dad, Poor Dad books. As I understand it, this brief seminar is basically a sales pitch to get you sign up for their 3-day seminar for several hundred dollars which is, in turn, a sales pitch for their 3 week training for several thousands of dollars. Fine Wine
Wine is food, right? So today’s Foodie Friday post is on a wine theme. I don’t profess to know much about really good wine but I do know enough to recognize when a wine is too young to drink. You can taste the tannins, the stuff from the stems and seeds of the grapes, which are bitter but which mellow over time. In fact, I’ve always thought that if a wine has the characteristics of being really good (nose, body, etc.) that noticeable tannins are a good thing – it means the wine is only going to get better. Snake Oil
“Social Media is crap.” That’s how I started a discussion at the Princeton Sports Symposium a couple of weeks ago. Of course, what I meant was that there is a focus on the tools of social by many businesses and a lack of understanding of the business reasons why anyone would be using these tools to further their business goals. I am happy, therefore to see that I’m not the only one seeing that, nor am I the only one who sees a bunch of charlatans masquerading as business experts in this space. Continue reading
