Friday already? Time for weekend goodness! But before that, our Friday Foodie Fun post which this week is about BYOB. In food terms, it’s bringing your own bottle, which can be a great thing if the restaurant permits it and doesn’t charge you an exorbitant ransom or, as they call it, corkage. I mean seriously, unless the restaurant is actually serving wine and you’re drinking your own instead of buying off their list, a fee to open your bottle (which I’m happy to do, by the way) and provide some glasses seems petty. Lie To Me
I’m a fan of the Fox show “Lie To Me.” In a nutshell, it’s about a guy who can detect when people are lying through various clues – facial expressions, use of language, etc. Besides the fact that it’s well-written and acted, it gives me hope that most of us can learn to do the same thing. Unfortunately, I’m not sure that’s true, but if it was I’m also convinced that a lot of folks would choose to ignore the clues since there are so many examples of people doing just that today. Speak Up
I try to take a break each day and eat lunch away from the computer. Generally I turn on CNN and try to catch up on the news that my RSS reader hasn’t brought me (which isn’t much, actually).
I was watching yesterday when a piece came on by Elizabeth Cohen, who writes an “empowered patient” column on CNN.com and has just released a book by the same name. It was frightening, frankly, but it also sparked an immediate business thought which I’d like to share. Continue reading
