Here we are at Friday again so it’s time for a few thoughts on food.   Actually, I rarely need to be prompted to talk about food – it’s on my mind a lot.  So much so that I really need to lose some weight.  I’m willing to bet that many of you are in the same boat.  Maybe it’s that we don’t think of food enough – we just stick it in the old pie-hole and it shows up on our waists soon thereafter.

Simulators

Have you ever spent time on a simulator? This is the time of year when I find myself doing just that: using a treadmill instead walking in the fresh air, hitting balls on an indoor range instead of the golf course. Maybe you play Wii Sports or something using the Kinect. There are all kinds of devices which simulate a real-world experience. They have them in business too, and they suffer from the same flaws. The Forest And The Trees

We went to the movies over the weekend and saw “Unknown.”  It’s an interesting film in many ways although it won’t be up for Best Picture next year.  Like me, it’s entertaining for the most part!

I bring this up because there’s a great visual at one point.  Imagine yourself in a forest (birch trees in the movie) and you’re walking.  The trees are somewhat impenetrable – a solid wall with very few gaps in between.  As you move forward, suddenly the trees line up – they’re in perfect rows.  You realize that you’re actually in a forest which has been planted by man and what seemed so impenetrable a moment before was, in fact, very accommodating as long as you found the point where everything lines up.  Isn’t that an executive’s job?
