I’m sorry that I’ve not posted until late today although frankly I could have written this immediately after the conclusion of The Masters. If you love sports at all and didn’t watch the final round, shame on you because you really missed one of the best, most compelling afternoons I can remember in any sport. What struck me beyond that, however, was the huge difference between the man who has won 14 major championships and the kid who is still trying to win his first. The former put on a great performance that ultimately proved to be too little too late. The latter blew a lead and his chance to win and yet he taught the older guy a lesson. Continue reading

Your Next Gig
So here’s a question for you. Does your next job exist? I don’t mean is there an opening someplace. I mean it literally – do you think the role itself exists? It’s not as simple a question as one might think. After all – the job I’m in now – consultant – has existed for a long time but one area of expertise in which I consult – digital media – has only been around for 15 years or so. Keep Calm and Carry On
Mondays are always interesting. I’d find I could gauge how interesting they were going to be based on the response I got when I asked “how was your weekend.” It was a pretty direct correlation – the more interesting the weekend, the more difficult Monday was going to be. I think it was kind of like starting a car after it had been in the garage for a while. Your work brain was put to bed for a couple of days and starting it back up was harder if you’d really managed to enjoy yourself extensively.
Fridays used to be interesting as well, especially late Friday afternoons. We had a running joke that anything bad that was going to happen during a week began right after 3p on a Friday. Which of course made Monday all the more interesting. The point? Continue reading
