The start of a long weekend and time for a little food-related thinking. After all, what better way to celebrate our nation’s independence than firing up the grill and eating to excess?
Grilling is one of those food preparation methods that seems ridiculously simple but can be very challenging to perfect. In fact, I was thinking this morning about how a lot of the great food we eat seems so simple but can require hours of complicated prep to produce great results. The funny thing is that the response we often hear is “That’s pretty good,” not “I really like the way they moved the seared meat over indirect heat to generate a smoke ring while keeping it moist.” The diners usually appreciate how it tastes without any thought as to how it’s made. Here’s the thing – not much stands still. Technology is a moving target and all the things which technology touches – which probably includes your business – need to move along with it. I started to write “or else” after that sentence but the reality is that there is no “else.” You move or you die, kind of like the myth about sharks. The Big Man
Devastating news over the weekend about the passing of Clarence Clemons from complications arising from the stroke he had a week ago. I suppose it shouldn’t have been such a shock since the early reports on his condition weren’t that great, but it was. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen Scooter and The Big Man over the last almost 40 years and knowing I won’t see the two of them together again makes me sad.
