Odd places for a Microsoft Windows Crash

I’m sorry I didn’t get a post up yesterday.  The day sort of got away from me due to a death in the family.  Fortunately, it was an old PC and not a person.  Unfortunately, it was the one serving as the host for all the printing on my network.  No big deal, right?  Install the printer on another PC on the network and all is well.  Well, not so much.

The deceased machine ran an old version of Windows – the new one runs XP (which is now an old version of Windows…).  While all the Windows machines on the net can print without issue, the MacBook that’s my primary computer can’t.  Oh sure – it sees the printer, it spools to the printer, but something seems to get lost in the translation since the printer just pauses and stays there.  Which of course got me thinking about business. A Philosophy Of Abundance

Forty or so years ago, George Harrison wrote a song called “I Me Mine.” It’s about achieving an ego-less state of mind and is especially interesting in the context of how The Beatles were imploding at the time due to egos.
I thought about that song as I was working on a bit of business development over the weekend. The reality is that I’m probably not the right consultant for the project and I know of a few other folks who might be better at it. That realization is something we try to teach our kids – how to share – and I think that it may come down to something from which we all can learn – a philosophy of abundance. Continue reading →

In One!

I have a confession to make.  I took the morning off to play golf before the horrible weather hit since it doesn’t sound as if we’ll be able to play this weekend at all.  There was nothing on the calendar; no one is awaiting any input from me.  I shouldn’t feel guilty about it especially since my boss was fine with it (oh wait…).

As it turns out, it was one of the best things I could have done for my spirit and I want to talk about that today instead of food.  I realize that food can be spiritually uplifting as well but let me explain. Continue reading →
