We chose leaders in government for the next couple of years yesterday. It’s an interesting process in our country, to say the least. We could probably have a really energized debate about what’s good and bad in the folks who emerged from the election as winners and losers, but regardless of that they now have to lead and not, as our President remarked on the campaign trail, stand around drinking a Slurpee, no matter which side they’re on. Sanity
I’m not sure if you were one of the 250,000 or so folks who went to Jon Stewart‘s rally over the weekend or if you, like me, watched any of it on TV. For the most part, I thought it was great satire and I mean that in the purest sense of holding up a mirror to individuals or society as a whole so we can see the ridiculous nature of some of what goes on.
As you guys know, we don’t do politics here, but since Election Day is upon us, I think we can take a few of Stewart’s points, which he intended for politicians and the media, and apply them to business. Continue reading

Tweakers
For this Foodie Friday, I want to continue yesterday’s theme on the Power of Better. I’m sure we all know someone who can walk into your kitchen, look at or taste what you’re making and offer up a suggestion to improve it. This may be the same person with whom you share a recipe and when you taste it as they prepare it the dish is better than when you cook it. Inevitably you ask them about that and they say “Oh, I made a few changes to your recipe.” They “tweaked” it a bit and it’s better. But it raises a corollary to yesterday’s theme and I want to share it. Continue reading
