For today’s Foodie Friday Fun post I want to talk about what the food court tells us about media.  I know – exactly what you were thinking about yourself.  But there really is an analogy in there.

I’m sure you’ve wandered around the mall and as you get to the food court you’ve had folks come up to you with samples of food.  Maybe you had the same experience at the supermarket or Costco.  Sampling isn’t exactly a new strategy, even in media.  Movies have been giving away samples – the “coming attractions” – for as long as I can remember.  So what’s different and why is it important? The Ambulance

Suppose you’re exercising and start to feel shaky.  You get kind of clammy and you’re sweating profusely.  Sure, you haven’t eaten yet and maybe you should have been drinking more water as you went, but right now you know you’re in trouble.

So you call an ambulance just to be on the safe side, especially since you feel as if you might pass out.  There are probably 100 thoughts going through your mind but one of them isn’t “will the ambulance show up” or even “will someone answer 911”, right? Continue reading

Losing Weight

Here we are at Friday again so it’s time for a few thoughts on food.   Actually, I rarely need to be prompted to talk about food – it’s on my mind a lot.  So much so that I really need to lose some weight.  I’m willing to bet that many of you are in the same boat.  Maybe it’s that we don’t think of food enough – we just stick it in the old pie-hole and it shows up on our waists soon thereafter.
