Cracking An Egg

It’s Friday, so it’s time for more Foodie Fun.  Yes, another incomparable combination of food and business, although I’m going to be really brief today!

I was watching Jacques Pepin the other evening.  In the middle of explaining a recipe, he stopped to explain how to crack an egg.  Now, I’ve been cooking pretty seriously for 40+ years (I started young!) and that’s one thing I’ve never even considered.  I mean – crack the shell, dump it out, look for shell pieces, move on, right? Self Sufficiency

I’m a big believer is doing things oneself.  I’d like to think that comes from the enjoyment of the task and not some weird paranoia about the incompetence of others.  I believe, as Shakespeare said, “Our remedies oft in ourselves do lie.” Given that what I do is provide outside resources to folks, is that weird? Sickness

I’m sick.  No, not in the way that admission made some of you think.  I have a cold.   Now, there’s nothing particularity interesting or unusual about that except that since leaving the corporate world 18 months ago, I haven’t had the pleasure of a sore throat, stuffy nose, and feeling generally crappy.  I’m sure that’s because I’m not as exposed – on trains, in the office, elevators – as I once was (better diet and more exercise hasn’t hurt either, I’m sure!).
