Hiding

Here’s the thing – not much stands still.  Technology is a moving target and all the things which technology touches – which probably includes your business – need to move along with it.  I started to write “or else” after that sentence but the reality is that there is no “else.”  You move or you die, kind of like the myth about sharks.  Let me tell you about a case I know which demonstrates why. Flying Over The Forest

We were talking about using data on a call this morning and someone was trying to make a point that I thought you all might find of interest.  It’s the same sort of issue that arises when I talk to my clients about Twitter and web analytics – that of dealing with an overwhelming amount of information.  I’m sure you’ve had to deal with that if you work in digital or marketing or both.  What might be a little different is my advice about all that data:  ignore it. You might have noticed from time to time that I’m redundant in this space.  You might find a few awkward turns of a phrase.  Maybe you think my grammar is off or that I’m taking 100 words to say something that you could express in 10.  You’re probably not wrong.

I don’t have an editor.  Believe me, it’s not because I’m sensitive about being corrected:  I’d welcome the advice.  It’s more due to the fact that this screed is a blog and is supposed to be kind of raw.  But what we do in business isn’t blogging and I want to spend a minute on that today.
