Yet another over 40 friend got the sack yesterday. It had nothing to do with his age nor with his competence. Mostly, like many of my pals who’ve been shown the door over the last few years, it was about a change of direction. As I speak to them, most of my friends had an inkling that something was amiss. Interesting projects were given to others. They weren’t invited to meetings that concerned areas in which they were involved. Certain people seemed to be avoiding them. There are always signs – we just choose to ignore them or we notice and get angry but don’t do much. So here’s a request for both the soon to be terminated and those doing the firing. Why I Love Sport
The Ryder Cup finished up this morning and it really doesn’t matter for whom you were rooting. If you love sport – and I do – this was one to remember. The Euro side took a 3 point lead (which is pretty big in things such as these) into the last round of competition and the event went down to the next to last hole of the final match. Both sides can walk away with heads held high but there’s more to my choosing to write about this and here’s why. Continue reading

Bring On The Rain
I’ve got rain on the brain today so nothing food-related for this Friday. Sorry! But it’s been raining for almost 48 hours and while the conditions here are better than those further south, it’s still pretty wet. The power went off and on a couple of times and there are trees down all over the place.
That said, I saw something this morning that happened because of the rain and it inspired a thought. Continue reading
