Forty or so years ago, George Harrison wrote a song called “I Me Mine.” It’s about achieving an ego-less state of mind and is especially interesting in the context of how The Beatles were imploding at the time due to egos.
I thought about that song as I was working on a bit of business development over the weekend. The reality is that I’m probably not the right consultant for the project and I know of a few other folks who might be better at it. That realization is something we try to teach our kids – how to share – and I think that it may come down to something from which we all can learn – a philosophy of abundance. Continue reading

Catching The Truck
Almost a year ago, I wrote about the cats in our neighborhood and how they chase squirrels with no thought as to what they’re going to do once they catch it. I had a similar thought this morning as I got yet another company-centric plea to “like us” or “follow us.” Since part of what I do is to help companies understand, manage, and use social media to further their goals, I’m all for building up the engaged consumer base. Tomatoes and Your Content
We do food here on Friday and I was kind of struggling to come up with a good food-related topic as I reflected on my week. One of the things on which I spent some time was helping a client with some strategic thinking on content and how best to distribute it across multiple channels, both digital and linear. At one point we even had a long discussion about the difference between content and channels which of course leads me to tomatoes and today’s business point. Continue reading
