Ephemeral

All the prep work for tomorrow’s holiday is in full swing here at Rancho Deluxe.  The turkey stock is made (no pan drippings when you fry them, bubba), shopping is done, silver is polished, and we figured out that we can use an old set of Colorforms shapes as stickers on wine glasses to identify everyone’s drinks  without spending a fortune on those cute little charms.  It’s a lot of work that the Mrs. and I do each year and we’re happy to do so.  Having the 25 or so family members and friends around the table (more like around the room) for dinner is a highlight of the year.  Which of course got me thinking about a business point. TV Is Only Half Of It

A little research to start the week.  A new study came out from Burst Media last week.  It was about how people view and interact with online video.  Not very much surprising in it – 71.6% of web users overall watch online content in a typical week—and 39.0% of all viewers spend between one and five hours per week with online video. Men aged 18-34 are the heaviest consumers of online video content, with 19.7% saying they consume 10 or more hours of video on the web per week.    Not much of a shock – almost every content company with which I work has a focus on video and I suppose it’s sort of chicken and egg – there’s more content offered in the form of video so the usages rises and because the demand goes up, content providers produce more.

Leftovers

From the title, you might think I’ve published next week’s food post too early.  Let me explain.  I was supposed to hit the market the other day to buy myself something for dinner (the Mrs. was at the theater so I was just cooking for myself) but got caught up in work and had no time to go before my evening appointment.  I rummaged around the refrigerator and assorted cabinets and found a bit of bacon, some raw, frozen shrimp, various veggies, and some white wine.  Sounded like a pasta sauce to me, which it was about 20 minutes later.  But it was also a business reminder.
