Backwards

The Nielsen Company

The latest Nielsen Three Screen Report is out this morning. In a nutshell:

During 2nd Quarter 2009, the number of people watching mobile video increased 70% from last year and people who watch video on line increased their viewing by 46% compared to a year ago. In addition, the average American TV consumption remains at an all-time high (141 hours per month) compared to the same time frame last year.

Little Things

They’re still playing golf out on Long Island as I’m writing this.  The U.S. Open is always great fun to watch and this one has been no exception.  It’s amazing how the course and the pressure always manages to bring the leaders back to the pack while the guys like Tiger and Phil who have been there before play their way into contention.  I was reminded in the course of watching it how Coach Wooden’s words really are true, both about golf and business:  “Little things make big things happen.” Continue reading

The Open

US-Open-2006-Tiger Woods

They’ve begun play in the Championship round of The U.S. Open.  Like The World Cup, the U.S. Open we see on TV is really the final round (or four rounds) of a tournament that began over a month ago (in soccer’s case we’re in the tournament now that concludes next summer).  The part I like best about this is neither that the courses make the best golfers in the world look like..uh..me nor the history.  What I like the best is that I can play.
