Ever been left at the gate by an airline? I almost was twice – once because a connection was late and the other in circumstances similar to the story I’ll get to in a second. It’s an incredibly frustrating feeling under any circumstances and when you believe it wasn’t really due to anything you did that frustration can change to anger rather quickly. Stupid Company Tricks
Will the stupid things companies do ever cease? Maybe when the companies themselves go out of business for being complete idiots, I guess. But in the interim, they sure provide a good amount of material for this space. I only found three examples over the weekend (I know – slacker) but since they’re all pretty egregious, I thought I’d share them.

Vets
Today is Veteran’s Day, a holiday which was created to commemorate the end of “The War To End All Wars.” While that part didn’t work out so well, it’s a worthy celebration of our men and women who have served and are serving in the Armed Forces. My Dad is one of those vets. He fought – as Archie Bunker used to say – in The Big One – WW2. And while he’s taught me a lot over the years, he and his fellow vets teach us another really valuable business lesson to go along with all the others. Continue reading
