I refuse to play the “25 Things You Don’t Know About Me” game but I’ll give you one. That one is that I was trained as a teacher. I know – pretty clear career path from high school English to digital media guru. Nevertheless, no matter what position I’ve held I’ve always felt that teaching was part of my job. While some argue that the “See One, Do One, Teach One” philosophy is a ridiculous oversimplification in business, I don’t. I think it’s an obligation. Continue reading →

I was watching Anthony Bourdain the other night on the Travel Channel. For you foodies out there, his No Reservations is consistently one of the best of the “foodologues” out there. This week, his program was about disappearing NYC restaurants. If you haven’t seen the show, I’d urge you to find it and not just for the food. You see, for those of us who grew up in and around NYC, the real food served in these places is going the way that the real Times Square did. Continue reading →

It’s no surprise that almost 277 years after his birth, George Washington has some business thoughts. Now before you click to the next blog, let’s remember that this is the man who predicted the European Union a long time ago except that he called it the “United States of Europe“. His open letter to the American People, written as he left office, raises themes that are even more true today. He urged Americans to unite for the good of the whole country, to avoid permanent foreign alliances, particularly in Europe, and to keep morality first and foremost in government. Continue reading →
