Pulpo A La Plancha

To end the week, it’s pulpo. For those of you who don’t speak Spanish, that’s octopus. I have had pulpo on my mind since dinner last night and since it’s Foodie Friday I thought I’d share some of what I’ve been thinking about.
The Mrs. and I went to a tapas place last evening and there was a special of pulpo a la plancha. I’ll explain what it is in a second but I ended up ordering two plates of it and eating them both by myself. Gluttony? No, just a great business lesson. Continue reading

Getting Slim

So here we are at the end of another week and as usual we’re going to talk about food. Today, however, I want to talk a bit about how food and I have changed our relationship over the last few months and how that may actually relate to business. I’m also hoping it might be helpful to those of you who want to dump a few extra pounds as I recently did. 30 of them, to be exact, and aside from having to buy a bunch of new clothes for which I was overdue anyway, there’s only good that’s come of it. Leftovers

To end the week, let’s talk about food and, more specifically, leftovers. You know what I mean – the rest of the steak you couldn’t finish; the other half of the chicken. The food you wrap up when the meal is over and deposit in the fridge so you can eat it at a later time and get more bang for your food buck.
We make a strenuous effort here at Rancho Deluxe not to toss any food unless it’s past its prime. However, given that there are often copious mounts of food left over after a family event or weekend of cooking, turning leftovers into something completely new has become an art form.
