One of the more esoteric things I work on with clients is Search Engine Optimization or SEO. I’ll tell you upfront, as I do my clients, that I’m not an SEO specialist but the reality is that many of these folks are at 0 on a scale of 1 to 10 and I can get them to 6 or 7. If they want more help from there, we’ll bring in a specialist.
SEO for you non-search types is a variety of tasks that improve a site’s ranking in search engines. Opting Out
It’s nice of folks to follow me on Twitter and in general I follow them right back. What happens next has become interesting. Quite often, I get a direct message (which in my case leads to a text message on my phone) thanking me for the follow and urging me to do something (click here, read this, etc.). That’s when I opt out – I either unfollow them or report them for spam if most of their tweets seem to be spammy – and I gather I’m not alone. Continue reading

The Problem With Cheap
Ever been left at the gate by an airline? I almost was twice – once because a connection was late and the other in circumstances similar to the story I’ll get to in a second. It’s an incredibly frustrating feeling under any circumstances and when you believe it wasn’t really due to anything you did that frustration can change to anger rather quickly.
