Looking Past Preconceptions

Let’s play a little marketing game this morning.  I’ll throw out a series of facts and you put on your marketing hat and decide if the facts make you want to target this group.  The point I’m going to make is that the answers may surprise you, not because you will find them unbelievable but because I’m betting that you have some preconceptions which will skew your thinking.  As we’ve discussed before, I think that is a huge problem in business (and in life and political thought as well!).

Who’s The Wise Guy?

Friday afternoon my phone rang. It was an insurance salesperson. Now, that’s not particularly unusual, I know, but what was strange was that he said he was following up the request I had submitted earlier that day for information. I hadn’t done that but figured it was a typical sales thing and didn’t give it any further thought. Or at least not until I checked my electronic mailbox, which is when the real fun started. Wine Down

Well, the power finally came back on late yesterday after five days in the dark.  It was an interesting departure from broadband internet access, cable TV, and hot water.  More on that next week.

For now, as promised yesterday, here is the second of our business tidbits the personal energy crisis caused me think of.  Since it involves a restaurant here in town, I thought it appropriate for our Foodie Friday Fun post. We were having to eat out since cooking on the stove (the gas still works) is hard in the dark and without a range hood the place is kind of smoky and smelly (in a good way, mind you!).  In the process, I learned a little something.
