I woke up Friday morning with a cold. By Saturday it had taken root throughout my body and I had the classic chills (and a very low grade fever), no energy, a rattle in my chest and a head that felt as if it needed a sump pump. A very pleasant weekend indeed!
Since I stopped commuting on trains and riding in elevators every day I haven’t been sick at all. This isn’t a coincidence and I had been on a train, in an elevator, on the subway, and in a number of offices early last week. I’m sure sniffles abounded. As did a business point. Continue reading

Shrink The Joint
If you’ve been following along in this space you know that one of my favorite artists is The Boss. I’ve seen him many time over the last (gulp) forty years (honest – the first time was 1972) in venues ranging from a few thousand seats to very large stadia. I’ve seen him with the E-Street Band, as a solo artist with another band, and even all by himself doing a one-man show. The music is always great but there was something else that hit me about all of those shows that reminded me of a business point this morning. Continue reading

The Easy Way Out
Another week, another set of challenges to keep us engaged. Well, that’s one way to look at it anyway. Some of them are holdovers from last week or last month. Some of them might have come anew on the wings of the new week. Some of them might be lurking ominously in the shadows, waiting for the moment we think we’ve got things under control to show themselves.
