What Is It And Why Do I Care?

A group of very smart web executives and I were talking about content and how to present it to increase engagement.  The discussion centered around defining how we should be thinking about user engagement with content – is it just page views, is it time on a page, is greater time on fewer pages just as good as a lot of quick views, etc.  I tried to simplify it down to the basic question I think is in the user’s mind:  what is this and why should I care about it.  Let me explain. My Take On Google+

Everyone likes to talk about what’s shiny and new and I’m no exception so today I’d like to spend a minute or three on Google+. As of this morning, there may be as many as 10 million folks on G+ – not a bad adoption rate!  I spent the weekend playing around on it and I have a few thoughts I’d like to share. Flying Over The Forest

We were talking about using data on a call this morning and someone was trying to make a point that I thought you all might find of interest.  It’s the same sort of issue that arises when I talk to my clients about Twitter and web analytics – that of dealing with an overwhelming amount of information.  I’m sure you’ve had to deal with that if you work in digital or marketing or both.  What might be a little different is my advice about all that data:  ignore it.
