What Fresh Fluke Says About Your Business

A little food talk to end the week.  There was a great article in the Times’ Dining section this week about how technology changes everything.  The dining section?  You bet, and it wasn’t the obvious changes many of us foodies have seen in things such as reservations (Open Table) or reviews (Yelp and way too many others) or discounts (Living Social, GroupOn et. al.).  No, this one was about disintermediation and the business point it made was something we should all keep in the back of our minds.

Something Had To Give

I know it’s Friday and we usually do something food-related, but since we covered a food topic earlier this week, today it’s media.  There was an interesting piece earlier this week about the changing viewing habits of younger folks.  Not surprisingly, at least to me, is what the Nielsen study found and I want to share it with you today in case you missed it.  I suppose that the main point is that there are only 24 hours in a day, and even if you DVR or otherwise capture 96 hours worth of content in those 24 hours, you still have to find the time to watch it.  But here are the facts and you tell me what you think. Monday Wondering

I’m not sure how you’re starting your week, but I’m beginning by checking out the latest from Adobe’s survey of  Digital Marketing Trends.  I know – what a fabulous way to start the week!  What’s interesting to me is not just what companies are planning to do in their digital marketing efforts but also what they have yet to do since those might be things with which they need a smart consultant’s help…

Thinking back a few years, studies such as these would often look at who was going to be making initial investments in digital.  There were always a lot of companies who were interested in it; a smaller number who were actively thinking about it; a subset of them were planning to do it, and finally, there was a small base of active users.  Not any more!
