Well, the power finally came back on late yesterday after five days in the dark.  It was an interesting departure from broadband internet access, cable TV, and hot water.  More on that next week.

For now, as promised yesterday, here is the second of our business tidbits the personal energy crisis caused me think of.  Since it involves a restaurant here in town, I thought it appropriate for our Foodie Friday Fun post. We were having to eat out since cooking on the stove (the gas still works) is hard in the dark and without a range hood the place is kind of smoky and smelly (in a good way, mind you!).  In the process, I learned a little something. Picky Eaters

I know it’s not Friday but I had a thought about eating – or maybe about NOT eating – I want to share.  Actually, as I think about it, maybe this is more about rasing your kids than it is food.  I’ll let you decide.  I do know it’s about business too!

We were pretty lucky as parents when it came to our daughters being picky eaters.  Both of them ate pretty much everything until they got older (like 8) and it wasn’t really an issue to get them to eat at all.  Watching other parents struggle to get their kids to eat anything reminded us about our luck in this area and even today while the girls have made some choices about likes, dislikes, and food in general (one is a vegan, one is an omnivore except for eggs), they have good palates and will try new things.

I Have A Life

OK, so maybe it’s not red carpets every night and maybe I don’t put on a tux or white dinner jacket each evening to dine. However, like most of you, I have a life. I have friends with whom I stay in touch beyond Facebook. I have business associates with whom I correspond beyond email. I sometimes need to express myself in more than 140 characters and sometimes people want to take what I have to say, give it some thought, and answer me back in a few sentences.  I have a family and occasionally we speak.  The funny thing is, it turns out I’m not the only person like this and the folks like me are of all ages.
