I went to get the mail yesterday and much to my surprise it contained today’s blog topic.  Someone said that inspiration never arrives when you’re searching for it and I guess this proves the point.

In any event, among the bills and magazines were two envelopes.  As it turned out each contained an invitation based on an identical premise:  I could benefit from the services being offered.  But that’s where the similarities end and today’s thought begins. Continue reading

Playing The Slots

Slot machine.

I’m fascinated by people who play slot machines. I have nothing against it; I just don’t understand it. My brother has a buddy who goes to the casinos quite a bit and I went with them on a trip a while back. While his pal plays craps for pretty decent stakes and blackjack, he also spent time on the slots. He’s definitely a sophisticated gambler and yet he chooses to play something that minimizes his skill as a gambler and is, in my mind, the equivalent of buying a lottery ticket. Egg On Their Faces

A fried egg, sunny side up.

Some things just make you shake your head and today’s USA Today brought along another one of them. It’s almost as if the aftermath of the BP spill never happened or, at best, as if some folks are either not paying attention or just not getting what they’re seeing and hearing.  I know it’s not Friday but this is food-related, sort of.  It’s really about business and responsibility in my mind but I’ll let you be the judge.
