Doing Well By Doing It Right

A piece of research came out yesterday which talked about how online commerce sites treated their customers and, in turn, how those customers felt about returning to do more business.  The study was done by Foresee Results and you can download a copy of it here if you’re so inclined.

I worked with Foresee when I was involved with the NHL’s online commerce business and I always found their insights valuable, mostly because they’re very actionable.  I suppose it doesn’t take a great deal of research to figure out that the more satisfied a customer is the greater the likelihood that they’ll do more and better business with you, but isn’t it nice to have data?

We Want Your Opinion – Let Us Give It To You

More evidence the other day about the ongoing disconnect between brands and their customers in the social media space.  It’s always interesting how consumers say one thing and those folks at brands who are responsible for listening say something quite different when asked the same question.  Today’s evidence comes courtesy of the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Council via Econsultancy and I think it’s good for a smile, even if it’s kind of a sardonic one.  It has to do with the results of a recent study that dealt with reasons for social media interaction with brands. Great Expectations

Today’s thought comes from a friend. She recently had a close encounter of the corporate kind with her local cable company although which company is actually immaterial for our purposes (TWC). In fact, this could be the phone company or an e-commerce site or a doctor’s office.  The reason I say this, as you’ll see, is that any number of businesses are guilty of committing the same sins as this one.  But I’ll let her tell you about it.
