As we head into Labor Day weekend, my thoughts turn to food (OK, so I could make that statement about the 364 other days too – got me…) and since it’s Friday I want to share something that’s rattling around in my head.  I’m not sure if there’s a business thought connected to it or not, but since it’s a day off from work on Monday maybe I can give us all a day off from my wacky business connections.  Or not! There’s a thread zooming around the digital space this week about the web being dead. Wired magazine issued this proclamation a couple of days ago and much has been written about it over the last 48 hours.  The gist of the argument is that digital life is becoming less browser-centric as we move to mobile web, apps, peer-to-peer, and other means of interacting digitally.  Of course, as they admit in the article, they issued the same proclamation in 1997!

Apple’s Jericho Moment

Apple Inc.

Did you play with an iPad this weekend? I didn’t – too busy enjoying the sunshine and warm weather to go stand in line to get it and hunker down to test it. Maybe later. But apparently a lot of people did – several hundred thousand if one is to believe all the reports out there.  The reviews are mostly positive although there’s one aspect to the device that I find a huge negative and I’m comfortable asking you guys about it even if neither of us has handled the thing ourselves.
