I went to get the mail yesterday and much to my surprise it contained today’s blog topic.  Someone said that inspiration never arrives when you’re searching for it and I guess this proves the point.

In any event, among the bills and magazines were two envelopes.  As it turned out each contained an invitation based on an identical premise:  I could benefit from the services being offered.  But that’s where the similarities end and today’s thought begins. Continue reading

Back To School

PASADENA, CA - OCTOBER 10:  School buses drive...

This is the time of year when I have to make a mental adjustment to my timings.  If you want to go anywhere around this town early in the morning or in the early afternoon, you need to add 10 minutes for the school buses.  Never fails that when you’re in a hurry you wind up behind one!

My older daughter is a teacher and both my wife and I began our careers that way.  It’s a big responsibility showing other people – young other people – the way to navigate themselves through a particular topic and, hopefully, the world in general.  There’s also something teachers are required to do which is a great thought for those of us out in the business world. Rewiring

The Nightmare (2)

Like many of you, over the years we keep adding boxes to our audio/video system. It used to be an antenna to get TV and the sound came out of the speakers. Then came cable. After a while, a video game. A VCR (remember those?). Soon a DVD player. Maybe a separate DVR like TiVO. Maybe a Sling box. Roku? A surround audio system for sure.
In any event, along with the boxes came an awful lot of wiring. Cables of all types – A/V, component video, digital audio., HDMI – we’ve got them all. And frankly, they’re a mess. So this morning, we did something about it and that’s todays thought. Continue reading
