I was trained to teach high school English. If you want to try a presentation skills challenge, try presenting poetry structure to the non college-bound freshmen at 8:30 in the morning. You almost have to set yourself on fire to get their full attention and many mornings I had a can of lighter fluid in hand as I reached my wit’s end. But then I realized that all I had to do was shut up. Inevitably, the class would calm down and listen up, often to hear who was on their way to the dean’s office. Continue reading

Cooking Creole
I was thinking how to get you focused on the terrible tragedy going on in Haiti and then I realized that maybe by using our Foodie Friday post to show you how close to home Haiti really is I could do so. “Yeah,” you’re thinking, “it’s right there offshore a bit – that’s pretty close.” Well, it’s closer than that. Time Off For Good Behavior
It’s almost Christmas and I know many of you will be taking time off from what you do day-to-day in order to relax. Me too, sort of. One thing I’ve found is that traffic to this blog (hopefully others as well) drops off a lot during holidays. Makes sense – this is mostly business-related and who the heck wants to think about business whilst on holiday?
So a few brief things:
Thank you to all of you who read this blog. If you’re a regular – spread the word. If you’re not, please let me know what you’d like to see so I can get you back more often.
Thank you to the clients with whom I’ve had the pleasure of working over the last 12 months. You guys are a lot of the inspiration for the blog. Howdy and get some rest to clients both continuing and new. You’re going to need it as we bust our butts to make 2010 a banner year.
Finally, I’m going to repost some of my favorite scribbles over the next week. Please do check them out and let me know if they hold up as time has passed. But that’s enough for today. Let’s grab an egg-nog, fire up the Yule Log, and enjoy!
