Mad As Hell

ANGRY

I watch TV news a bit. Local stuff, national stuff, the left, the right, and the ones that try to play it dead center. You know what comes across louder than almost anything else? People are angry. Fed up. Ready to bring down their righteous wrath on just about anyone and anything these days. I get it. Been there, did that, got the shirt, amigos. And I think that while it’s profoundly unsettling in many ways, I think it can also work to everyone’s benefit.
What I mean is this: no one is safe. No incumbent politician, no business, no way of doing things just because that’s how it was done. Nada. Been in office and we don’t like where things are? Outta here. Raise your prices and lower your service? See ya.

Which creates tremendous opportunity. For businesses (including politics) and for us, their customers. Yeah, I’m mad as hell – help me! Help me channel my anger into something positive. Help me vent. But focus on ME! Because I’m not gonna take it any more. I’ve got options.

I listened to this Dixie Chicks song on the train yesterday (trying to avoid hearing the cell-phone talkers, the loud discussions, and the eaters next to me so I could work). It’s where a lot of folks are:

I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should

Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I’m not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I’m still waiting

People are still waiting. For politicians. For businesses. How can we get in touch with that? How can you make their lives better and, in the process, do well by doing good?
